NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) — A man who spent four hours climbing around a 300-foot transmission tower was back on the ground Friday night.
Police received a call around 4:20 p.m. that a man was climbing a tower located near Whitnall Highway and Oxnard Street.
“Those are 230 and 500 kilovolt transmission lines. Deadly,” DWP officials said.
The DWP was able to deactivate the lines and reroute power.
Fire crews placed an air cushion under the tower just in case the man fell.
The finally, just before 9 p.m., SWAT officers were able to bring him down safely.
He was arrested and taken to the hospital.
It was not known why the man climbed the tower.
He did not make any threats or demands.
No injuries were reported.
