Estranged Husband Sought in Fatal West Hills Stabbing
WEST HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) — Los Angeles police intensified their search on Sunday for a man believed to have stabbed his estranged wife to death in West Hills, authorities said.
The woman, identified as Michelle Kane, 43, was separated from her husband of 10 years, Michael Kane, 46, Los Angeles police said.
Michelle’s body was discovered outside a home in the 7100 block of Deveron Ridge Road on Saturday morning in a quiet section of the west San Fernando Valley.
Shortly before 8 a.m., police said, Michael showed up at the home, and Michelle ran down the street as her estranged husband argued with someone inside the house.
But he saw her and chased her down. Michelle could be heard begging for her life, according to neighbors.
She was stabbed multiple times, and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Michelle had been staying at a friend’s house with her two children, neighbors reported.
The attack appeared to be a case of domestic violence, according to the LAPD.
“We’re asking for Mr. Kane to turn himself in and bring this tragedy to closure,”LAPD Capt. Joel Justice said at a news conference on Saturday night.
Neighbors revealed the couple had a history of domestic problems and Michelle had recently obtained a restraining order.
Michael was believed to be driving a silver-gray or mint-green 1999 Chrysler 300M, California license plate 4HGP487.
