LIBERAL, Kan. (KTLA) — Consumers were being warned on Wednesday about a massive ground beef recall due to possible E. coli contamination.
The United States Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of 22,737 pounds of ground beef products on Tuesday.
The contamination was found as a result of routine inspection by FSIS.
The affected products were from National Beef Packing Co., based out of Liberal, Kansas. They included the following:
-10-pound packages of “National Beef” 80/20 Coarse Ground Chuck, package code “0481”
-10-pound packages of “National Beef” 81/19 Coarse Ground Beef, package code “0421”
-10-pound packages of “National Beef” 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck, package code “0484”
The products all have a use/sell date of June 13, 2013. The FSIS expressed concern that some of the meat may remain in consumers’ freezers.
No illnesses have been reported in relation to the products so far, officials said.
