The incident occurred about 9:30 a.m. in the 39000 block of Salinas Drive, according to the county’s Department of Animal Services.

One of the victims, the 80-year-old father of the dog’s owner, was “severely” attacked, an Animal Services spokesperson said in a statement. The man suffered bites to his stomach, both arms, and the back of one of his knees. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

An air conditioning repairman was also attacked by the dog, a male Neopolitan Mastiff pit bull mix named Stax. The dog was licensed but “unaltered,” authorities said.

A sheriff’s deputy shot the 90-pound dog, hitting him twice. The dog was later found at a home in the 39000 block of Tangletree Way and impounded by an Animal Services officer.

The dog’s owner authorized the agency to euthanize the animal.
