CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (KTLA) — A big rig accident forced an hours-long shutdown of part of the 60 Freeway in the City of Industry Friday.
The crash happened near the 605 interchange around 10:10 a.m. when the driver of a big rig headed westbound lost control and ended up on the eastbound side of the Pomona Freeway, according to officials.
The big rig struck at least three oncoming vehicles before veering off the freeway and down an embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Strips of aluminum scattered across both sides of the freeway forced officials to close all but one lane on the eastbound and westbound sides of the freeway while cleanup crews worked to remove the debris.
The center lanes in both directions remained closed as of 1:30 p.m.
The truck driver was hospitalized with moderate to minor injuries.
It was unclear if any other drivers were injured.
What caused the driver of the big rig to lose control was under investigation.
