CANOGA PARK, Calif. (KTLA) — Police on Tuesday were searching for a man who allegedly abducted, sexually assaulted and robbed a teenage employee at the Westfield Topanga mall.
The 19-year-old was walking to her car after leaving work about 5:30 p.m. on July 4 when a man approached her, according to an LAPD news release.
The man allegedly forced the teenager into her car at knife-point and then held her hostage for about three hours.
The teen told police that the man ordered her to drive him to a number of places in the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles.
He allegedly stole property from her and also gained access to her bank account through her ATM card.
At some point during the ordeal, the man allegedly sexually assaulted the victim before she was finally able to escape, police said.
Police were searching for a black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 140 to 160 pounds.
Anyone with information was asked to call 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
Clarification: An earlier version of this story described the alleged sexual assault as rape. The word “rape” has been removed from the story and replaced with “sexual assault” for clarity.
