Hernandez was shot four times and died at the scene.

“It’s apparent the shooter appears suddenly from the victim’s right,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Mission Detective Division.

“There’s no real confrontation, just an immediate assault.  It appears deliberate, and premeditated,” Vernon said.

Police did not release surveillance video out of respect for the victim’s family, but said it shows the alleged attacker clearly firing a shotgun.

Witnesses described the man as Hispanic and in his 30s.
