Report: ‘Law & Order’ Actor Dennis Farina Dies at 69

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KTLA) — Former Chicago police officer and “Law & Order” actor Dennis Farina died on Monday morning in Scottsdale, Ariz., the Associated Press reported.

Farina, 69, suffered a blot clot in his lung, according to his representative, Lori De Waal.

He was best known for his role as Det. Joe Fontana on “Law & Order.”

Farina also appeared in films including “Get Shorty,” “Snatch,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “Midnight Run.”

More recently, he appeared in HBO’s series “Luck” and also guest starred on Fox’s “New Girl.”

Farina is survived by his three adult children from his marriage to Patricia Farina. He also has two granddaughters and four grandsons.

Farina is also survived by longtime love Marianne Cahill. The pair never married.

Prior to becoming an actor, Farina was an officer with the Chicago Police Department from 1967 to 1985.
