SILVERADO, Calif. (KTLA) — Orange County Sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday responded to a report of gunshots at Jackson Ranch, an equestrian center in rural east Orange County.
Two women called 911 about 11 a.m. after hearing what they said were bullets fired near a barn, authorities said.
“At this point, the preliminary information indicates that nobody has been injured by gunfire,” Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said, adding that a search operation was ongoing.
A command post was set up about a mile-and-a-half away at Silverado Elementary school, located on East Santiago Canyon Road.
Sky5 video showed 10 evacuees — nine adults and one child — exiting a SWAT vehicle after being driven to the command post, escorted by sheriff’s deputies.
Santiago Canyon Road was closed between Williams and Modjeska Canyon roads.
It was reopened around 9 p.m.
