LONG BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — A love like theirs doesn’t come around very often.

Helen and Les Brown were sweethearts at Huntington Park High School and eloped on Sept. 19, 1937.

They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary just last year.

And like in the life the couple shared together, they would also share in death.

Helen and Les Brown were married for 75 years and died less than 24 hours apart.

Helen died on July 16, and Les died less than 24 hours later.  They were 94.

Both were born on the same day, Dec. 31, 1918.

Helen was from a working-class family, while Les was from a more affluent family.

They were married against both their parents’ wishes.

The couple moved to Long Beach in 1963 and had three sons.

Helen was a housewife who dabbled in real estate, and Les was a photographer.
