Torrance Man Describes Coyote Attack That Killed Cat

TORRANCE, Calif. (KTLA) — Some residents in a Torrance neighborhood remained concerned Saturday after a cat was attacked and killed by a coyote in the front yard of a home.

The deadly attack occurred about 4 a.m. Thursday, according to Steven Rime, a homeowner who witnessed the it. He said he and his wife were awakened by the sound of their dogs barking.

He said the coyote was about 3 feet tall, weighing 80-100 pounds.

“I had never seen a coyote in the neighborhood,” he said. “There have been some people who have talked about them. But for something this big to be in the neighborhood and the front yard, just chowing down … It was amazing how aggressive and voracious it was.”

Some residents in the area where the attack occurred said they had noticed more cats disappearing lately.
