Rapper 50 Cent Pleads Not Guilty in Domestic Violence Case
VAN NUYS, Calif. (KTLA) — Rapper 50 Cent pleaded not guilty Monday to domestic violence and vandalism charges.
Prosecutors allege the 37 year old, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, kicked his former girlfriend and trashed her Toluca Lake condo during an argument back in June.
The two were previously in a three-year relationship and have a child together.
During the argument, Jackson allegedly began destroying the woman’s home, causing an estimated $7,100 in damage, according to the L.A. City Attorney’s office.
The woman locked herself in her bedroom, and Jackson allegedly kicked open the door and kicked her, prosecutors said.
Officers who responded to the scene found broken chandeliers, a broken television and a ransacked closet in the bedroom.
Jackson had left the residence before the officers arrived.
He was later was charged with one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism.
If convicted on all the charges, he could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.
