CASTAIC, Calif. (KTLA) — An 8-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in the washing machine at his home in Castaic has died, authorities said.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home on Pansy Court around 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday.
The boy’s father discovered his son unconscious inside the top-loading machine, which was filled with water.
At the time of the incident, the boy’s mother was at the store, while his father was outside doing yard work.
The boy was alone in the house for about 20 minutes, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
When his father found him in the machine, he pulled the boy out and called 911.
Deputies found the boy lying in front of the washing machine, unresponsive and not breathing, sheriff’s officials said.
He was resuscitated and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead on Sunday morning, authorities said.
The boy’s identity has not been released.
