FONTANA, Calif. (KTLA) — The California Highway Patrol on Saturday was investigating an accident involving a funeral procession officer on the 10 Freeway in Fontana.
The volunteer traffic officer, who was riding a motorcycle, was traveling westbound on the freeway between Cherry Avenue and Etiwanda Avenue at about 1 p.m., authorities said. The officer was apparently coming from or going to a funeral procession when another motorist lost control of his truck after a tire blew out.
It was unclear whether the officer was hit by the truck or the tire.
The officer and the driver of the truck were taken to a hospital.
The officer suffered a broken leg and abrasions. Details about the driver’s injuries were unclear.
