Driver Sought in Deadly Hit-and-Run in Crenshaw District

CRENSHAW, Calif. (KTLA) — Police on Monday were searching for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run in the Crenshaw District.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 4700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the LAPD’s South Traffic Division.

A 37-year-old Hispanic man was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by an SUV, police said.

Deadly hit-and-run in the Crenshaw District

The driver of that vehicle did not stop to render aid.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.

Police were looking for a 1999-2000 champagne-colored Land Rover Discovery.

Investigators were able to determine the type of vehicle based upon pieces left behind after the impact.

The car should have significant front-end damage, police said.

There was no description of the driver immediately available.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the LAPD.
