COLTON, Calif. (KTLA) — Family and friends of murder victim Alejandro Padilla gathered in Colton on Friday to say goodbye.
Funeral services for Padilla were held at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary in Colton.
Padilla was leaving for work last month when he was attacked and kidnapped from the driveway of his home in Fontana, according to investigators.
He was found dead inside his charred vehicle in Rialto on July 27, one day after he was reported missing.
Padilla was in the process of filing a restraining order against his daughter’s former boyfriend, Edward Morales, when he was killed, according to friends.
“He was having problems with Anthony, basically trying to keep Anthony away from his daughter,” family friend Tony Granados said.
Morales and another man, Richard Gonzalez, were charged with murder in the case.
Morales, 18, has pleaded not guilty.
Morales’ mother, 37-year-old Alma Casada, was also arrested. She pleaded not guilty to being an accessory to murder.
Gonzalez died in police custody in an apparent suicide.
