MAR VISTA, Calif. (KTLA) – A search was underway Saturday for the gunman who shot and killed another man who was sitting inside his car, authorities said.
Gunshots were reported at about 12:35 a.m. at the corner of Braddock & Berryman, according to the LAPD.
The victim was approached by a man, who walked up to his car and opened fire, police said.
Investigators believe the victim, who was identified only as a young man, crashed into parked cars as he tried to speed away from the shooter.
When officers arrived, they found the victim unresponsive in his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The gunman took off and remained on the loose. As of Saturday morning, police had few clues.
“We are still looking for witnesses to the actual incident,” Lt. John Radtke of the LAPD told KTLA 5 News.
Anyone with information was urged to call the LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide Division at (213) 382-9470.
