TOLEDO, Ohio (KTLA) — Seven years after a car crash left her paralyzed from the waist down, a bride in Ohio has kept a promise to herself by walking down the aisle on her wedding day.
Flanked by her father and trainer, Stevie Beals supported herself on a rolling medical walker as she made her way toward her husband-to-be at a ceremony Aug. 10.
“Seeing everything come together at that moment, and seeing all the hard work pay off, and her in the dress and how beautiful she was, it was overwhelming,” said the groom, Jared VanAusdale, who carried his bride down the aisle after the nuptials.
“I’m just so excited to finally be married and know that … I married my best friend,” Beals said. “I know we’re going to laugh for the rest of our lives.”
