SOUTH GATE, Calif. (KTLA) — A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday while walking on the 710 Freeway in South Gate, authorities said.
A SigAlert was issued about 8:30 p.m. after emergency personnel responded to the scene, near Imperial Highway.
All southbound lanes were closed for more than an hour while the California Highway Patrol conducted an investigation, and traffic was directed off the freeway at Firestone Avenue.
Significant damage was visible on the front end of the vehicle involved in the accident.
The coroner was en route to the scene, authorities said.
At least one southbound lane had been reopened by 9:30 p.m.
