PANORAMA CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — The driver of a suspected stolen vehicle was taken into custody after a wild pursuit that ended in Panorama City early Tuesday.
KTLA’s Sky5 was the first overhead of the pursuit, which began in the North Hollywood area and involved a male driver in a green Ford Contour.
The pursuit headed southbound on surface streets through the Cahuenga Pass into Hollywood.
The driver then led police westbound on the 10 Freeway and northbound on the 405 Freeway into the Sepulveda Pass.
He transitioned to the eastbound 101 Freeway and finally exited at Woodman Avenue.
The driver wound through residential areas, driving erratically and at speeds of up to 50 or 60 mph.
At one point, the car hit a curb and began to smoke and fishtail. The driver ran red lights and narrowly avoided a collision on Coldwater Canyon at Roscoe Avenue.
The car finally spun out on Roscoe Boulevard just west of Woodman Avenue.
The driver attempted to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended by LAPD officers.
