SAN FRANCISCO (KTLA) – Apple has opened the doors for iPhone users to trade-in their old phones for new ones.
The technology giant announced Friday it would start giving customers credit for older phones, as long as they put the money toward the purchase of a new model.
Apple said the new trade-in program would take effect immediately at 252 of its U.S. Retail stores.
The change in policy was launched ahead of the release of Apple’s latest model of the iPhone, which is expected to be happen in the next few weeks.
Before Friday’s announcement, Apple offered customers the chance to reuse or recycle iPhones and other devices online and then shipping them in.
