Boston Bombing Survivor Returns to L.A. After Near Death

EL SEGUNDO (KTLA) — A survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing returned home to Southern California on Friday after nearly dying and enduring four months of rehabilitation.

John Odom of El Segundo was standing near the finish line of the marathon in April waiting for his daughter to cross when the bombs went off.

The 65-year-old plumbing contractor nearly lost both his legs after the arteries in both legs were cut.

“I could feel the blood running through my pants,” Odom said.

Odom’s heart stopped twice in the emergency room and he had 11 surgeries performed.

Several of Odom’s family members were standing with him but weren’t injured.

Odom returned to a homecoming celebration in El Segundo on Friday, and said he planned to go back to work on Monday.

“I’m amazed I’m alive,” he told KTLA.
