While most cats hate water, a fat feline in Tennessee has taken the plunge to lose weight.
The obese feline named Buddha was caught on tape walking on a partially submerged treadmill to slim down.
You may remember we first brought you Buddha’s story in August. Since then he’s become an international sensation.
Buddha was rescued from a shelter in Nashville after his previous owner died, and that person’s relatives gave him up.
The new owner runs a pet shop and was horrified by the state of Buddha’s health.
Buddha’s new family suspected the cat’s previous owner fed him people food because he loved pasta and hated cat food.
Veterinarians ordered Buddha to go on a special low-calorie diet because his health was at risk.
Since then, the animal has been on a strict diet and exercise plan.
Buddha’s trainers say he does aquatic exercises because the water holds him up and is easier on his joints.
The cat now weighs about 27.9 pounds, according to the Tennessean.
While he is a little lighter on his feet, veterinarians have set a goal weight for the cat of 20 pounds.
