Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013
Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 illuminates downtown Los Angeles with this year’s theme “Fashion in a New Light” at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday, September 12, at 8:00 p.m. The star-studded fundraiser, which also visits Minneapolis, Chicago and San Francisco, brings together musical performances, the best of fall fashion, and the most glam after-party in town for one exceptional evening to raise awareness and funds for long-standing partner AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). Founded in 1983, APLA has grown to become one of the largest and most effective AIDS service organizations in the nation, currently serving more than 11,000 people annually with first-rate HIV/AIDS care and prevention programs.
Starring in this year’s show is multi-platinum pop-powerhouse Backstreet Boys. Formed in 1993 by AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, and Nick Carter, Backstreet Boys instantly became pop stars driven by the release of their single “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” off their self-titled debut album. Recognized as the biggest and best-selling boy band in history with sales exceeding 130 million albums worldwide, they are the only music artists to release seven consecutive albums in the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Two decades later, Backstreet Boys are as strong as ever with the summer release of their eighth studio album, “In a World Like This.” Cirque du Soleil, a group that has brought wonder and delight to more than 100 million spectators in over 40 countries on six continents, will amaze the audience with elements from Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Also set to perform is Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest winner, The Summer Set, a five-member punk rock group originally formed by two Arizona-based brothers who started out writing tunes inspired by Jimmy Eat World and The Format.
Fall fashion collections featured on the runway include Calvin Klein, Diesel, Rachel Rachel Roy, Tallia Orange, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend Max Mara, and Macy’s newest Impulse collection Maison Jules. Models’ looks will be completed with make up by MAC.
