An investigation was Saturday in Santa Monica to determine what caused a deadly crash on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, authorities said.
One person was killed when a 2001 Ford Mustang slammed into a wall near the McClure Tunnel on the westbound side of the freeway, and burst into flames around 1:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two other people in the Mustang were injured, authorities said.
The two injured victims were taken to area hospitals.
Their conditions were not known.
Two other cars collided with the Mustang, witnesses told KTLA.
The CHP temporarily closed both sides of the freeway for the investigation and cleanup.
All lanes were reopened by 7 a.m.
