The first time June Allen was aboard the Queen Mary, the year was 1946 and World War II had spread across Europe and into farther reaches around the globe.
She was just 18 at the time, a recent war bride with a 15-month-old child to look after.
The octogenarian returned to the grand ship, which is permanently berthed in Long Beach, on Saturday.
Allen recounted her first trip aboard the Queen Mary, saying she felt like royalty. She had never been in a hotel before the voyage.
Allen was crossing the Atlantic to be reunited with her husband, Sgt. Arnie Boots, who has since passed.
