LAPD, Family Seek Missing 19-Year-Old Woman

Los Angeles police and the family of a 19-year-old from East Hollywood are seeking help finding the young woman, who was last seen Saturday.


LAPD provided this image of Janet Ji Young Choi, who was last seen Sept. 14.

Janet Ji Young Choi was last seen at her home just before noon Saturday and never arrived at her art school class later that day, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

“This is very unusual for Ms. Choi,” the LAPD release stated. “Ms. Choi’s family is extremely worried and concerned for her safety.”

Choi’s home is in the 4900 block of Maplewood Avenue, in the East Hollywood neighborhood bordering Larchmont.

Choi is described as Korean, with black, brown eyes, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 90 pounds.

Anyone with information about Choi’s whereabouts is urged to contact Missing Persons Unit Detective A. Mercado at 213-996-1800 during business hours, or 877-527-3247 (877-LAPD-24-7) at other times.
