A 21-year-old man has been arrested in a shooting at a family gathering in Moreno Valley that left a 6-year-old girl dead and her father wounded.
Keandre Narkie Johnson, an admitted gang-member and parolee, was arrested without incident Monday in Hemet.
He was booked investigation of murder, child cruelty resulting in death, attempted murder, misdemeanor battery, and parole violation, according to a news release from the Riverside County D.A.’s office..
Tiana Ricks, of Victorville, and her father, 26-year-old Tyrell Ricks Jr., were shot while attending a party at a house in the 25000 block of Harker Lane on Sept. 7.
The victims and others were reportedly standing in the driveway about 9:45 p.m. when two men walked up to them, asked a question and then opened fire.
Tiana was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Two famous artists from the music world agreed to help pay for the child’s funeral, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Rapper-turned-reggae artist Snoop Lion donated an undisclosed amount to Ricks’ family, representatives for the musician told the Times.
Compton native The Game already donated $10,000 to help cover funeral expenses, according to reps for the musician.
