Police officers shot and killed a man who was in a secure parking lot at Culver City police headquarters Saturday, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was investigating the incident.
The allegedly armed man slipped into the parking lot at 4040 Duquesne Ave. around 7:15 a.m. behind a police cruiser that had opened the gate, according the department.
Officers confronted the man and he pulled out a gun, Lt. Dave Coleman of the Sheriff’s department said.
The officers opened fire. The man was wounded and taken to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries.
