One man was killed and three others wounded, including a sheriff’s deputy, during a confrontation in Laguna Niguel on Tuesday night.
A deputy responding to a call about a disturbance around 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Chandon was attacked by a man with a knife, authorities at the scene told KTLA.
The man repeatedly stabbed the deputy who was then forced to open fire, killing the man, authorities said.
Another man and a woman were reportedly found stabbed at the location.
All three stabbing victims were taken to the hospital.
The deputy and the two additional victims are expected to survive, the O.C. Sheriff’s Department tweeted.
No other details were being released.
