Santa Anita Park Opening Day- Early Morning Training

Allie Mac Kay was live in Arcadia to preview opening day of Santa Anita park.

Can’t sleep? Head on down to the Santa Anita Park to watch jockeys warm up their horses. The jockeys show up as early as 4:30 a.m. to start running drills and get the horses ready for the races.

Opening day is Friday, Sept. 27. The featured race is the Eddie D. Stakes, named after Hall-of-Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye.

Saturday, Sept. 28 features five, Grade I stakes, races spotlighting some of the best horses in the country warming up for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 1 and 2.

First post at 1 p.m.  Tickets start at just $5.

Six-week, 24-day meeting, highlighted by the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 1 and 2 – the richest two days in sports, with $25 million in purses spread over 14 races.
