Can’t sleep? Head on down to the Santa Anita Park to watch jockeys warm up their horses. The jockeys show up as early as 4:30 a.m. to start running drills and get the horses ready for the races.
Opening day is Friday, Sept. 27. The featured race is the Eddie D. Stakes, named after Hall-of-Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye.
Saturday, Sept. 28 features five, Grade I stakes, races spotlighting some of the best horses in the country warming up for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 1 and 2.
