Pedestrian Killed by Buena Park Police Cruiser Identified
The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Buena Park police cruiser was identified Sunday as 33-year-old Katherine Tinnell, according to the Orange County Coroner’ office.
Tinnell was killed around 1 a.m. Saturday near Orangethorpe Ave. and Oregon Street.
It was not known where she lived, a press release from the coroner’s office said.
It appeared Tinnell had been lying in the street when the cruiser drove by, Buena Park police said.
The officer saw an object in the road and tried to swerve, but it was too late, police told KTLA 5.
Buena Park police asked the California Highway Patrol to lead the investigation.
The officer involved in the crash was not injured.
