El Monte police and sheriff’s homicide detectives responded to the home Tuesday night, when three bodies were found.

Authorities responded about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 9900 block of Marshall Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The bodies of three people were discovered in the house’s garage.

Investigators said the female victims, both believed to be in their 30s, may have been the man’s daughter and her friend. The identities of the three victims were not immediately released.

The shootings were preceded by a domestic dispute, according to a neighbor who did not want to be identified by name.

“Apparently, after that, I guess he was going to try and shoot his wife,” the neighbor said. “She got away and, I guess, ran down the street and apparently saw the cops and he decided to shoot himself.”

A handgun was recovered at the scene, authorities said.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting the El Monte Police Department with the investigation.

Anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
