A 15-year-old boy who has lived his entire life in foster care is asking members of an Orlando church congregation to adopt him.

orlando-adoption-kidDavion Navar Henry Only was born while his mother was in prison, but never gave up hope that his parents would someday come back for him, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Last summer that hope faded when Only learned his biological mother had died.

According to the Times, that’s when Only decided he needed to find a real family.

He brought up his grades and even lost weight hoping to be a suitable son, the Times reported.

Last month Only stood up in front of 300 parishioners at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church and pleaded for one of them to adopt him, according to the Times.

“My name is Davion and I’ve been in foster care since I was born. . . . I know God hasn’t given up on me. So I’m not giving up either,”  the Times reported.   “I’ll take anyone,” Only told the Times. “Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don’t care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be.”

The Department of Children and Families told the Orlando Sentinel that the response to Only has been overwhelming.
