The collision occurred at 9:18 p.m. Wednesday, when a man behind the wheel of a black Mazda reportedly lost control of the car while making the transition from the 110 Freeway to the 10 Freeway. The vehicle smashed into a structure that housed the residents’ home gym. An adjacent shed was also damaged.

No residents of the property were injured in the crash.

The driver remained at large Thursday after running away on foot. Blood was found inside the car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

“I was in the living room doing my homework and then all of the sudden I just heard this huge crash,” said Camila Argueta, who resides at the location with her family. “We live next to a freeway, so I just thought two cars crashed.

“It was crazy,” she added. “It looks like a tornado hit our house.”
