Fundraisers Set for Moreno Valley Student Who Died During Recess

Two fundraisers have been organized for the family of 11-year-old Elijah Allen, who died after collapsing at Vista Heights Middle School this week.

Elijah was playing touch football during lunch recess at Vista Heights Middle School on Tuesday when he collapsed at about 12:20 p.m., according to officials.

He was mourned by fellow students, parents and staff on Thursday at an emotional vigil outside the school.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Provident Bank, account No. 5166947, reference Elijah Allen. The mailing address is Provident Bank, 19348 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA  92508.

Two fundraisers have also been set up to help Elijah’s family.

From Friday, Oct. 25 through Friday, Nov. 1, Martha’s Soul Food Kitchen will donated $4 from every $10 food plate to the Allen family. The restaurant is at 24318 Hemlock Ave. in Moreno Valley.

Beginning at noon on Oct. 26, a fundraiser will be held at Vista Heights AAPAC Car Wash-Sunnymead Burgers, 23670 Sunnymead Blvd. in Moreno Valley.
