The San Diego (405) Freeway was scheduled to close in the Sepulveda Pass on Saturday, October 26 as part of an ongoing construction project, officials said.
The closures were planned to allow construction crews to work on the Skirball Bridge deck, according to Metro.
Motorists were advised to use alternate routes , as the full southbound 405 will close from Valley Vista Boulevard to the southbound Skirball Center Drive on-ramp at 10 p.m. Saturday.
In the northbound direction, the freeway was scheduled to close from Getty Center Drive to the northbound Skirball on-ramp starting Sunday at 3 a.m.
The closures were the latest inconvenience for motorists and Westside residents as construction continued on a 10-mile car-pool lane.
News of these latest closures came as officials announced the massive construction project was 15 months behind schedule.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx blamed a newly built retaining wall that was collapsing.
