The carjacking occurred in the 12400 block of Carson Street on June 25 at about 1:50 pm.

The motorist had left his truck parked in the driveway of a local business with the keys in the ignition, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A man on a bicycle rode past the truck, then returned and placed his bicycle in the bed of the truck, entered the driver’s seat and started the truck, the release stated.

When the motorist saw what was happening, detectives said, he ran toward the truck and confronted the carjacker.

Surveillance video captured the carjacker strike the victim with the truck, dragging him on the ground for approximately 25 feet before running over him with the front tire

The victim suffered a fractured pelvis, fractured ribs and minor bleeding around his brain. He was listed in critical condition and was hospitalized for a significant amount of time, according to the release.

His truck was found abandoned one day after the incident.
