All lanes of the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway reopened just before 5:00 a.m. Monday in Commerce after a big-rig crashed and exploded into flames a day earlier, authorities said.

710-Fiery-CrashThe double tanker truck went over the side of the freeway Sunday at 9:37 a.m., and ignited 8,000 gallons of oil on the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fiery crash prompted the CHP to close the freeway, causing a traffic nightmare.

The truck driver was burned and suffered critical injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A second person, believed to be on a street below, suffered moderate injuries, officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
