1 Killed, 3 Injured When Wrong-Way Driver Slams into Pickup Truck

One person was killed and three others injured Saturday when the driver of a Nissan Sentra slammed head-on into a pickup truck in Santa Ana, authorities said.

Open alcohol containers were found at the scene; and it appeared that no one inside the Nissan was wearing seatbelts, the Santa Ana Police Department said in a press release.

The crash happened at the intersection of West McFadden Avenue at South Mohawk Drive in Santa Ana, Nov. 16, 2013 (KTLA)

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Mohawk Drive, according police.

There were three people inside the 1989 Nissan as it drove down the wrong side of McFadden Avenue and collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado 2500 that had stopped at a red light, police said.

The 30-year-old male driver of the Nissan died at the scene. His two passengers were taken to the hospital, police said.

Their conditions were extremely critical and moderate, according to police.

The driver of the pickup suffered moderate injuries. The victims’ names were not released.
