A Studio City woman is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the return of her dog, which was stolen earlier this week when burglars entered her home.
Monday will mark one week since Karen Chamberlain last saw Jack, her beloved teacup Maltese. During that time, she has posted countless flyers throughout her neighborhood and beyond, hoping someone will know where to find her 6-year-old dog.
“I was hyperventilating the first night,” Chamberlain said. “I couldn’t stop crying for the first several days.”
On Nov. 11, she came home to her third-story apartment after work and found that her front door had been forced open. Her apartment had been ransacked.
She said the thieves made off with her laptop, watch, her parents’ will — and her most valued possession.
“I just kept saying, ‘Jack is gone. Jack is gone. Oh my god,'” she recalled.
“I’ve never been away from him for that long,” she added, her voice cracking with emotion.
Because the four-pound dog has not been fed his prescription food for almost a week, Chamberlain is concerned about his health.
“I mean it when I say ‘no questions asked,'” she insisted, referring to the $5,000 reward.
Police are reviewing surveillance video at Chamberlain’s apartment complex. A neighbor reportedly saw two men standing in Chamberlain’s doorway, accompanied by a woman who was in the hallway.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jack, who is distinguishable by his pink nose, was asked to call 818-452-8722.
