A section of the southbound 405 Freeway was scheduled to be closed for five hours on Sunday morning, Caltrans said.

The closure is part of a freeway-widening project that delayed this week because of rain.

The stretch of the 405 will be closed from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. between the 101 Freeway and Getty Center drive, according to a statement issued by Caltrans and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The operation, which will shift lanes to the west for work on the freeway median, will only happen if weather permits, officials said.
