Power Outage Leaves Thousands in the Dark in Santa Monica

An estimated 5,800 people were without power Tuesday night in Santa Monica, according to Southern California Edison.

The outage was bordered by Pico Boulevard to the north; Marine Street to the south, 17th Street to the east and Ocean Way on the west, SCE reported on its Twitter feed.

For a time, the outage knocked out power to the Santa Monica Pier.

The outage appeared to be caused by downed power lines near 7th and Marine streets, police told the L.A. Times.

Utility crews were on the scene, according to SCE.

As of 11:30 p.m. SCE reported that power had been restored to about 3,000 people.
