Three children reportedly abducted by their mother were found safe, authorities said Wednesday.
Nisshawn Murphy was accused of taking the children from a foster home in Palmdale on Monday after being ordered to relinquish her parental rights due to several criminal convictions, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
On Wednesday morning, a friend of Murphy’s turned the children over to officers at the LAPD’s southeast division, according to Detective Luan Dang with the Palmdale sheriff’s station. The children were then placed into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.
There are some associated factors that detectives were still investigating, but Dang told KTLA they are no longer actively looking for Murphy.
She was scheduled to appear at a hearing on Thursday regarding the custody of the children, he said.
Murphy has been arrested and convicted several times for narcotic violations as well as cruelty to children, Dang said.
