Elderly Woman Dies in Baldwin Hills Apartment Fire

An elderly woman was killed early Wednesday when a fire broke out at an apartment building in Baldwin Hills, authorities said.

Firefighters responded about 2 a.m. to the 3900 block of Ursula Avenue (map), where light smoke was showing at La Ronda Cooperative, an “O”-shaped garden-style structure, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Forty-one firefighters knocked down the blaze in 13 minutes, the LAFD said. The female victim was found inside a unit in the 1960s building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. However, authorizes said it was not considered suspicious.
