One heartwarming story took place about 10 years ago when Walker noticed a young couple looking at wedding rings in a Santa Barbara jewelry store, CNN reported.

The U.S. veteran, who was just back from Iraq, wanted to buy a ring that day because he was about to be deployed again, saleswoman Irene King told CNN.

He likely didn’t realize just how expensive the rings were — about $10,000 — and could not afford one, King said.

Walker called the manager over and had the ring put on his tab, according to King.

The stunned couple could not believe someone had done this. In CNN’s report, King was quoted as saying it was “the most generous thing I have ever seen.”

Walker had planned to be part a charity event to help survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines the day he and Roger Rodas were killed in a car crash in Valencia.

The car shop website had invited customers to a “Charity Toy Drive & Automotive Social Gathering.”
