Salvation Army Bell-Ringer Breaks World Record But Has Laptop Stolen

A Salvation Army holiday bell-ringer broke the world record for ringing more than 80 hours straight on Friday in Colton, but his laptop was stolen during the quest.

Major Butch Soriano has been stationed outside a Wal-Mart store in Colton since Tuesday, where he’s been ringing his bell as part of a special contest.

The theft happened when he stepped inside the store to take a quick break from the cold.

Soriano is hoping to make a personal goal of 100 hours. Kacey Montoya reports from Colton for the KTLA 5 News at 10 on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.
