Boy, 8, Injured After Being Hit by School Bus in Fontana

An 8-year-old boy suffered two broken feet and a broken leg after being hit by a school bus in Fontana Monday morning, police said.

The child was crossing the street inside a crosswalk at Randall and Cypress avenues (map) just after 8 a.m. when the collision occurred, according to a news release from the Fontana Police Department.

The boy was hospitalized, and an investigation was continuing, according to police.

The 52-year-old driver, who was not injured, was operating a 2008 yellow school bus, police said.

The boy was crossing eastbound when struck by the bus, which was traveling southbound, according to the news release.

The intersection is near Randall Pepper Elementary School and Fontana High School. Citrus Elementary School is about a half-mile away.
