Warm, Windy, And Dry
Surface high pressure building over the great basin will bring moderate Santa Ana winds to southern California late Friday night through Sunday. Peak offshore winds are expected on Saturday across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, when gusts between 45 and 55 mph are expected across the mountains, and between 35 and 45 mph across coastal and valley areas. Slight weakening of Santa Ana winds are expected on Sunday, however gusts between 30 and 45 mph will still be common. Humidities are expected to lower to around 15 percent on Saturday afternoon. Further drying is expected Saturday night into Sunday, when there will be the potential for widespread humidities between 10 and 15 percent along with isolated single digit readings. In addition, temperatures will rise close to 80 degrees by Sunday. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon due to the combination of moderate offshore winds, low humidities, warm temperatures and dry fuels.
