Authorities were searching for a person of interest Friday in their investigation into the death of a man found in a Laguna Hills home.
The body was found by Laguna Hills patrol deputies responding to a welfare check call at the residence on Wednesday night.
The case was being investigated as a homicide based on preliminary information, according to a news release by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators want to talk to 22-year-old Henry Godinez, who was identified as a person of interest in the case.
Godinez, who has not been seen since Dec. 7, was the dead man’s roommate and co-worker, according to the release.
The identity of the victim was being held pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Godinez, who is Nicaraguan, may be headed to Nicaragua via Mexico, authorities said.
He may be driving a 2005 black Volkswagon Jetta with the license plate no. of 6KJM618.
Godinez was described as a Hispanic man, with black hair, brown eyes and a slender build.
Anyone with information was asked to call detective Justin Montano at 714-647-7046.
